30 August is marked as an International Day of Missing Persons. For the commemoration of this date on the Makhadzhirs Quay an opening of the small fountain took place. The author is the sculptor Arkhip Labakhua. After the opening of a symbolic monument at the quay there was held an exhibition of the pictures of missing people in the Central Exhibition Hall. Events for this day have been prepared with the participation of ICRC, the movement of "Mothers for Peace and Social Justice" and other public organizations of Abkhazia.

Today, at the first meeting of the National Assembly of the Parliament of Abkhazia of the fifth convocation a Speaker has been elected. It is Bganba Valery, a former MP of the last convocation. 21 deputies from 33 supported him. The opponent of Bganba, the leader of the opposition party FPU Raul Khajimba scored 11 votes.

Today in Sukhum a photo exhibition of Ibrahim Tchkadua "Sunny style" has been opened. The photo project is based on representing a collection of women's clothing in the style of Modern of Rusudan Kobyakova. Today, 13 February, in the Association of media members a briefing was held on rising the prices of international calls. Please note that from 1 February, the cost of cell phone international calls has been ranged from 16 to 25 rubles of different tariff plans. Representatives of the initiative group "Against rising prices," read out a letter addressed to the President Alexandr Ankvab requesting to sort out the problem.

Today, 3 February, in Sukhum on the Freedom Square people's gathering took place in support of the independence of the Abkhaz Church and its secession from the Georgian Orthodox Church. Participants thanked the Russian Orthodox Church for the assistance provided after the Patriotic war of the people of Abkhazia. The participants of the Assembly also thanked the First Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew for the audience provided to the representatives of the Holy Metropolis of Abkhazia. "Members of the National Assembly appreciate the process of restoring the Abkhaz Church through a historic Mother Church – the Constantinople Patriarchate ," – is said in the address which thousands of people have signed.

From 1 February in Abkhazia rates for mobile phone international calls will rise three times. The initiative belongs to the State Communications Inspectorate office, which explains the fact that the local telephone station becomes unprofitable. The Association of media workers held a round table. Representatives of the two cellular companies, and government agencies did not come. The participants decided to appeal to the Prosecutor General with a request to check the State Communications initiative in compliance with legislation.
