If not us, then who?
06.12.2012 16:56Returning to the theme of the of high-rise construction in Sukhum, I apology for the simple inaccuracy - it appears that the project is already in Sinop has been changed and instead of a 14-storey hotel they build a 12-story block of flats. But actually it does not change anything. There are some newly constructed high-rises empty in the capital, no one buys the apartments, as local people can not afford it. Businessmen, apparently hope that a law allowing foreigners to buy a primary home will be adopted. In any case, it appears that because some people desire to make money they mutilate the small storey architectural environment of Sukhum folding by decades.
Because of the same desire the nearby residents to the construction of a 12 storey building should not live, as for the construction is around the clock! The owners can not wait to put the money into his pocket, so multi-ton dump trucks and powerful excavators digging a huge pit, work even in heavy rain, and only at night - is sacred! A week ago, judging by the sound of bombing, at four in the morning they began to clog piles. Our houses shook. A neighbor called: "Nadia, an earthquake! Go out with the documents or wait? "
The dirt utterly scattered around, including the nearest part of the Kodor highway area, on which continuously the land is taken to. (Where, I wonder?). Luckily, we found active people - a young Aslan Gumba, who recently returned from Moscow, went to the construction site and quarreled with them.. Builders could not figure out what to do, but Aslan suggested - hire a fire truck! Now they wash the dirty part of the highway, and thanks for that!
I have not met any of Sukhum’s resident who would welcome the emergence of high-rise buildings in the capital - even without thinking about the consequences of high-rise construction people intuitively feel that this is an attempt on their life . In November last year I was wandering in the search of the right address for a half an hour in the Sochi region, lined with luxurious 30-storey hotels - I felt like Martian! Few people, no local resident, no one knows anything you wander among the stone large houses and realize that man for a man is a wolf, and a stranger.
About thirty years ago, the Americans had another study and came to the conclusion that is so clear and to every sensible citizen: the blocks of flats - is an additional factor in the alienation of man from the earth. No wonder the Americans, who built a multi-storey business centre in Manhattan, do prefer to live outside the city, in a cottage with a lawn.
On 5 December the Council of the Public Chamber discussed the situation with the construction of high-rise buildings in the capital and decided to convene a general session of the PC on 20 December. MPs, Sukhum City Assembly and other active members of the society will be invited. We all want to leave to future generations that cozy low-rise Sukhum, which has its own unique atmosphere and mutual human! And now it just depends on us.
