War to Sidewalks
10.10.2012 12:59
This war was declared in Sukhum long ago and continues with a full overbalance of those who consider sidewalks as their own property. Only a few agree with the City Administration their love for this part of the public space, and that in cases they claim to a modest strip. If you want to get the entire sidewalk - the flag is in your hands, you are not liable to attract, the resentment of pedestrians no one can hardly care. As usual, they will tolerate! This fence has been erected for the third day, it cut off the sidewalk so much and people have to trample the grass down. Partly it was trampled a long time, because after a heavy rain appeared a huge puddle, so people have to bypass the grass. Now we finally will make a lawn for 70 meters, because the ones who will build a luxury house in the middle of the Kodor highway, think only of his own comfort. The fact that in this most beautiful avenue of cypress alley in the Abkhaz capital, planted in the thirties of the last century, young mothers have walks with carriages, people go to work to the city center, enthusiasts of a healthy lifestyle run, etc., the builders do not care at all!
Somehow, even in the megalopolis, where a square meter of land costs more than the whole Sinop wasteland they manage not to exceed the exact size of a construction and refurbishing the site. Nobody attempts to occupy the public space. But at our place they need to enclose the whole area for constructing one building.
Dmitry Gulia and Bagrat Shinkuba enjoyed walking in this avenue, slowly sinking into their thoughts. I'm afraid if the Abkhaz classic writers tried to walk through the alley now, they would fail to concentrate. First of all, you have to look down to avoid stepping on a delicious pile of cow and horse dung. Secondly, in the area of the park - at a distance of 50-60 meters – one should pinch the nose, so as not to pass out the stench, because 6-7 years ago, the sewerage burst. Part of the trees in this area of arboreturn had already dried up, and the stench became almost a customary attribute. Now for a full of happiness one has to wade between the fence and cypresses.
Nobody is against of the construction itself, especially if a modern beautiful building is constructed and the area around is ennobled. But why to start with such rudeness and spitting on a public space? Several people came to me with indignation - people keenly feel disregard to them. Why not to build in a civilized way, without stepping on the foot of the people around?
