The habit of independence
01.10.2012 00:00For nineteen years, we have become accustomed to the independence of Abkhazia, a whole generation raised for whom this is a natural state. No one points out how to live and what to do, all are in our hands. Therefore it is especially hurtful when we do not think before doing something. For example, before the Victory Day people try to put the capital in order, and they start cutting trees in front of the train station. Of course, they began to do it in the midst of the day and this formed as a result a monstrous traffic jam for Sukhum - I myself sat there in the heat for forty minutes, then I got out of the bus and started walking. When making my case, I came back, the plug did not reabsorb. Why not do it in the weekend, or early in the morning or after work, not to create tangible inconvenience to their own fellow citizens?
The tourist season is coming to the end, an important one for the Abkhazian budget period, when more money is flowing into the country. And some are doing their best to attract tourists, but the others do on the contrary. For many years usually in the morning a barge comes to Kelasur beach and starts to pump sand from the bottom - it continues, usually up to five hours in the evening. Rumble motor and disgusting smell of fuel can be heard up to "Aytar" it means that the best band in the boundaries of the capital city's beaches is covered. Is it to be done at the height of the holiday season? In Bulgaria, for example, which is also largely dependent on tourism, in May they stop all construction work not to create discomfort for those who came to have a rest.
Two nights ago, thieves climbed to my neighbors who slept sensitively and grabbed the hand of thieves. During the showdown it revealed that both sides knew each other. Then the thieves began to apologize and said that they were ashamed, they had just seen the car in the yard with Russian numbers and decided that it belonged to vacationers. Of course, to rob vacationers - is something sacred! A couple of weeks ago they slashed tires of the Sukhum journalist’s car while she was swimming in the sea - experienced people assumed that because her car had also Russia's number, hooligans had hoped that holidaymakers would leave the car at least for a time, and they could quietly take it then. In every country there is pilferers, nowhere is to yawn, but we have reached a level of impunity that the hunt for holiday-makers turned into a kind of sport.
The principle of "This is my land, I do what I want" which is still governed by some, has become obsolete. Independence assumes responsibility! Welfare of all depends on how everybody feels citizen not only of his own pocket.
All this is necessary to remember and at the festive table, raising a toast in the honor of the Victory. Those who died for it, they did not fight for permissiveness and looseness. When they took up arms to defend our country , they dreamed of the freedom to think and work for the good of their small country.
